Princess Mary Windsor Countess Harewood 1897-1965

On 6th July 1893 [her father] King George V of the United Kingdom [aged 28] and [her mother] Victoria Mary Teck Queen Consort England [aged 26] were married at Chapel Royal, St James's Palace. She by marriage Duchess York. He the son of King Edward VII of the United Kingdom [aged 51] and Alexandra of Denmark Queen Consort England [aged 48]. They were second cousin once removed. She a great granddaughter of King George III of Great Britain and Ireland.

On 25th April 1897 Princess Mary Windsor Countess Harewood was born to King George V of the United Kingdom [aged 31] and Victoria Mary Teck Queen Consort England [aged 29]. Coefficient of inbreeding 1.86%.

On 7th June 1897 Princess Mary Windsor Countess Harewood was baptised by Archbishop William Dalrymple Maclagan [aged 70] at St Mary Magdalene's Church, Sandringham.

On 6th May 1910 [her grandfather] King Edward VII of the United Kingdom [aged 68] died. His son [her father] George [aged 44] succeeded V King of the United Kingdom. [her mother] Victoria Mary Teck Queen Consort England [aged 42] by marriage Queen Consort England.

In 1912 George Holford [aged 51] and Susannah West Wilson [aged 47] were married at the Chapel Royal, St James's Palace. [her brother] King George VI of the United Kingdom [aged 16], [her future sister-in-law] Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon Queen Consort England [aged 11], [her grandmother] Alexandra of Denmark Queen Consort England [aged 67] and [her aunt] Princess Victoria Windsor [aged 43] were present. The Times reported ... "The aisle was lined by non-commissioned officers of the bridegroom's old regiment the 1st Life Guards. The bride who was given away by her two sons, wore a gown of old Point d'Alençon lace with a train of gold brocade veiled in chiffon. Instead of a hat she wore a headdress of gold lace and pink roses and she carried a bouquet of orchids ... The King and Queen gave Sir George Holford a pair of sleeve links bearing the Royal monogram in diamonds and rubies."

On 9th August 1914 Alastair Windsor 2nd Duke Connaught and Strathearn was born to Prince Arthur of Connaught [aged 31] and Princess Alexandra Duff Duchess Fife [aged 23] at 54 Mount Street Grosvenor Square. He was baptised on 1st September 1914 at his parent's home. His godparents were his maternal great-uncle [her father] King George V of the United Kingdom [aged 49], Alfonso XIII King Spain [aged 28], his maternal great-grandmother [her grandmother] Alexandra of Denmark Queen Consort England [aged 69], his grandfather Prince Arthur Windsor 1st Duke Connaught and Strathearn [aged 64], his great-aunt Princess Louise Caroline Alberta Windsor Duchess Argyll [aged 66] and his cousin Princess Mary Windsor Countess Harewood [aged 17]. He a great grandson of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom. Coefficient of inbreeding 3.89%.

On 28th February 1922 Henry Lascelles 6th Earl Harewood [aged 39] and Princess Mary Windsor Countess Harewood [aged 24] were married at Westminster Abbey [Map]. His best-man was Major Victor Mackenzie 3rd Baronet [aged 39]. Her bridesmaids included Doris Hilda Gordon-Lennox [aged 25], Mary Cambridge Duchess Beaufort [aged 24], Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon [aged 21], Princess Maud Duff Countess Southesk [aged 28], Rachel Cavendish [aged 20], Helen Diana Bridgeman [aged 14], Mary Beatrice Thynne Baroness Nunburnholme [aged 18] and Princess May of Teck [aged 16]. The wedding was attending by her father and mother King George V of the United Kingdom [aged 56] and Victoria Mary Teck Queen Consort England [aged 54]. She the daughter of King George V of the United Kingdom and Victoria Mary Teck Queen Consort England. He the son of Henry Ulrick Lascelles 5th Earl Harewood [aged 75] and Florence Katharine Bridgeman Countess Harewood [aged 63].

On 7th February 1923 [her son] George Henry Hubert Lascelles 7th Earl Harewood was born to [her husband] Henry Lascelles 6th Earl Harewood [aged 40] and Princess Mary Windsor Countess Harewood [aged 25] at Chesterfield House. He a grandson of King George V of the United Kingdom. He married 29th September 1949 Marion Stein Countess Harewood and had issue.

On 21st August 1924 [her son] Gerald David Lascelles was born to [her husband] Henry Lascelles 6th Earl Harewood [aged 41] and Princess Mary Windsor Countess Harewood [aged 27] at Goldsborough Hall, Knaresborough. He a grandson of King George V of the United Kingdom.

On 31st March 1928 [her brother] Henry Windsor 1st Duke Gloucester [aged 28] was created 1st Duke Gloucester.

On 6th October 1929 [her father-in-law] Henry Ulrick Lascelles 5th Earl Harewood [aged 83] died. His son [her husband] Henry [aged 47] succeeded 6th Earl Harewood in Yorkshire, 6th Viscount Lascelles, 6th Baron Harewood of Harewood in Yorkshire. On 9th October 1934 [her brother] Prince George Windsor 1st Duke Kent [aged 31] was created 1st Duke Kent.

On 29th November 1934 [her brother] Prince George Windsor 1st Duke Kent [aged 31] and [her sister-in-law] Princess Marina Glücksburg Duchess Kent [aged 27] were married at Westminster Abbey [Map]. She by marriage Duchess Kent. The wedding was followed by a Greek ceremony in the private chapel at Buckingham Palace [Map]. She had eight bridesmaids: her first cousins Princess Irene Glücksburg [aged 30], He the son of [her father] King George V of the United Kingdom [aged 69] and [her mother] Victoria Mary Teck Queen Consort England [aged 67]. They were second cousins. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King George II of Great Britain and Ireland.

On 6th November 1935 [her brother] Henry Windsor 1st Duke Gloucester [aged 35] and [her sister-in-law] Alice Christabel Montagu-Douglas-Scott Duchess Gloucester [aged 33] were married at Buckingham Palace [Map]. She by marriage Duchess Gloucester. She the daughter of John Scott 7th Duke Buccleuch 9th Duke Queensberry [deceased] and Margaret Alice "Molly" Bridgeman Duchess Buccleuch Duchess Queensbury [aged 63]. He the son of [her father] King George V of the United Kingdom [aged 70] and [her mother] Victoria Mary Teck Queen Consort England [aged 68].

On 20th January 1936 [her father] King George V of the United Kingdom [aged 70] died. His son [her brother] Edward [aged 41] succeeded VIII King of the United Kingdom. Duke York merged with the crown.

On 3rd June 1937 [her brother] King Edward VIII of the United Kingdom [aged 42] and [her sister-in-law] Wallis Warfield aka Simpson Duchess of Windsor [aged 40] were married at the Château de Candé. No member of his family attended. He the son of [her father] King George V of the United Kingdom and [her mother] Victoria Mary Teck Queen Consort England [aged 70].

Before 25th April 1939 Thomas William Anson [aged 26] and Anne Ferelith Bowes-Lyon [aged 21] were married at St Margaret's Church, Westminster [Map]. The wedding was attended by the [her brother] King [aged 43] and [her sister-in-law] Queen [aged 38], Princesses [her niece] Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom [aged 13] and Princess Margaret [aged 8] - see Pathe. He the son of Thomas Edward Anson 4th Earl Lichfield [aged 55] and Evelyn Maud Keppel Countess Lichfield [aged 52].

In 1941 Hugh Molyneux 7th Earl of Sefton [aged 42] and Josephine Gwynne Armstrong Countess Sefton [aged 38]. Whilst he was a good friend of the [her brother] Duke of Windsor [aged 46], his wife was a good friend of the Duke's wife [her sister-in-law] Wallis Warfield aka Simpson Duchess of Windsor [aged 44]. Josephine Gwynne Armstrong Countess Sefton by marriage Countess Sefton.

On 26th April 1943 Alastair Windsor 2nd Duke Connaught and Strathearn [aged 28] died at Ottawa. He was buried at St Ninian's Chapel, Mar Lodge Estate. Duke Connaught and Strathearn extinct. The diaries of Sir Alan Lascelles [aged 56], [her brother] King George VI's [aged 47] private secretary, published in 2006, recorded that both the regiment and Athlone had rejected him as incompetent, and he fell out of a window when drunk and perished of hypothermia overnight.

On 24th May 1947 [her husband] Henry Lascelles 6th Earl Harewood [aged 64] died at Harewood House [Map]. He was buried at All Saints Church Harewood [Map]. His son George [aged 24] succeeded 7th Earl Harewood in Yorkshire, 7th Viscount Lascelles, 7th Baron Harewood of Harewood in Yorkshire.

On 21st October 1947 David Allan Bethell 5th Baron Westbury [aged 25] and Ursula James [aged 23] were married at St Martin in the Fields Church [Map]. Princesses [her niece] Elizabeth [aged 21] and Margaret [aged 17] attended the wedding, as did the Duke [aged 47] and Duchess [aged 45] of Gloucester.

On 29th September 1949 George Henry Hubert Lascelles 7th Earl Harewood [aged 26] and Marion Stein Countess Harewood [aged 22] were married at St Mark's Church North Audley Street. King George VI of the United Kingdom [aged 53], his uncle, Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon Queen Consort England [aged 49], Victoria Mary Teck Queen Consort England [aged 82] Princess Mary Windsor Countess Harewood [aged 52], his mother, and other members of the Royal family attended the wedding. He the son of Henry Lascelles 6th Earl Harewood and Princess Mary Windsor Countess Harewood.

Marion Stein Countess Harewood: On 18th October 1926 she was born at Vienna [Map]. On 6th March 2014 she died.

In 24th March 1953 [her mother] Victoria Mary Teck Queen Consort England [aged 85] died.

On 16th May 1953 the Princess Royal, Princess Mary Windsor Countess Harewood [aged 56], attended a ceremony marking the redevelopment and extension of Bradford Cathedral [Map]. The east end of the cathedral is by Edward Maufe work, as well as the two west wings which contain the Song Room and Cathedral offices.

On 28th March 1965 Princess Mary Windsor Countess Harewood [aged 67] died.
