He the son of Ralph Neville 4th Earl of Westmoreland [aged 38] and Katherine Stafford Countess of Westmoreland [aged 37]. They were half fourth cousins. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Edward III of England.

[his father] Henry Manners 2nd Earl of Rutland [aged 9] and [his mother] Margaret Neville Countess Rutland were married. She the daughter of Ralph Neville 4th Earl of Westmoreland and Katherine Stafford Countess of Westmoreland. He the son of Thomas Manners 1st Earl of Rutland and Eleanor Paston Countess Rutland. They were half fourth cousins. He a great x 5 grandson of King Edward III of England.

John de Vere 16th Earl of Oxford [aged 20] and Dorothy Neville Countess of Oxford were married. She the daughter of Ralph Neville 4th Earl of Westmoreland and Katherine Stafford Countess of Westmoreland. He the son of John de Vere 15th Earl of Oxford [aged 65] and Elizabeth Trussell Countess of Oxford.

Those present included Thomas Audley 1st Baron Audley Walden [aged 48], Thomas Howard 3rd Duke of Norfolk [aged 63], Charles Brandon 1st Duke of Suffolk [aged 52], Henry Grey 1st Duke of Suffolk [aged 19], Henry Courtenay 1st Marquess Exeter [aged 40], John de Vere 15th Earl of Oxford and Ralph Neville 4th Earl of Westmoreland.

Around 1551 John Manners 4th Earl of Rutland was born to Henry Manners 2nd Earl of Rutland [aged 24] and Margaret Neville Countess Rutland.

On 10th August 1557 [his father] Henry Manners 2nd Earl of Rutland [aged 30] fought being Captain-General of the cavalry at the Battle of St Quentin.

Jean Bourbon Count Soissons and Enghien [aged 29] was killed at the Battle of St Quentin. His brother Louis [aged 27] succeeded Count Soissons.

Henry Dudley [aged 26] was killed.

After 1559 [his father] Henry Manners 2nd Earl of Rutland [aged 32] and [his step-mother] Bridget Hussey Countess Bedford [aged 33] were married. He the son of [his grandfather] Thomas Manners 1st Earl of Rutland and [his grandmother] Eleanor Paston Countess Rutland. They were fourth cousins. He a great x 5 grandson of King Edward III of England. She a great x 5 granddaughter of King Edward III of England.

On 17th September 1563 [his father] Henry Manners 2nd Earl of Rutland [aged 36] died. He was buried at St Mary the Virgin Church, Bottesford, Leicestershire [Map]. His son [his brother] Edward [aged 14] succeeded 3rd Earl of Rutland, 14th Baron Ros Helmsley. Edward Manners 3rd Earl of Rutland became a ward of Queen Elizabeth I of England and Ireland [aged 30] and was specially under the charge of William Cecil 1st Baron Burghley [aged 43].

Before 1572 John Manners 4th Earl of Rutland [aged 20] and Elizabeth Charlton Countess Rutland [aged 18] were married. He the son of Henry Manners 2nd Earl of Rutland and Margaret Neville Countess Rutland.

On 21st February 1572 [his daughter] Bridget Manners was born to John Manners 4th Earl of Rutland [aged 21] and [his wife] Elizabeth Charlton Countess Rutland [aged 19]. She married August 1594 Robert Tyrwhitt and had issue.

On 6th June 1573 [his brother] Edward Manners 3rd Earl of Rutland [aged 23] and [his sister-in-law] Isabel Holcroft Countess Rutland [aged 23] were married. She by marriage Countess of Rutland, Baroness Ros Helmsley. He the son of [his father] Henry Manners 2nd Earl of Rutland and [his mother] Margaret Neville Countess Rutland.

On 6th October 1576 [his son] Roger Manners 5th Earl of Rutland was born to John Manners 4th Earl of Rutland [aged 25] and [his wife] Elizabeth Charlton Countess Rutland [aged 23] probably at Kirk Deighton Harrogate, North Yorkshire. He married 5th March 1599 Elizabeth Sidney Countess Rutland, daughter of Philip Sidney and Frances Walsingham Countess Essex.

In 1578 [his son] Francis Manners 6th Earl of Rutland was born to John Manners 4th Earl of Rutland [aged 27] and [his wife] Elizabeth Charlton Countess Rutland [aged 25]. He married (1) 6th May 1602 Frances Knyvet Lady Bevill and had issue (2) after 26th October 1608 Cecily Tufton Countess Rutland, daughter of John Tufton 1st Baronet, and had issue.

In 1580 [his son] George Manners 7th Earl of Rutland was born to John Manners 4th Earl of Rutland [aged 29] and [his wife] Elizabeth Charlton Countess Rutland [aged 27]. He married 3rd March 1605 his half fourth cousin twice removed Frances Carey Countess Rutland, daughter of Edward Carey and Catherine Knyvet Baroness Geneville Beaudasert.

Around 1582 [his son] Oliver Manners was born to John Manners 4th Earl of Rutland [aged 31] and [his wife] Elizabeth Charlton Countess Rutland [aged 29].

On 14th April 1587 Edward Manners 3rd Earl of Rutland [aged 37] died at his home Ivy Bridge on the Strand [Map] or at Puddle Wharf aka Dock [Map]. He was buried at St Mary the Virgin Church, Bottesford, Leicestershire [Map]. His daughter Elizabeth [aged 12] succeeded 15th Baroness Ros Helmsley. His brother John [aged 36] succeeded 4th Earl of Rutland. Elizabeth Charlton Countess Rutland [aged 34] by marriage Countess of Rutland. He would be Earl for ten months only dying on 24 Feb 1588.

Robert Constable [aged 65] was one of the principal mourners at his funeral.

On 22nd October 1588 [his daughter] Frances Manners Baroness Willoughby of Parham was born to John Manners 4th Earl of Rutland and [his former wife] Elizabeth Charlton Countess Rutland [aged 35]. She was born postumously; her father had died nine months previously on 24th February 1588. She married on or after 4th February 1603 her fifth cousin once removed William Willoughby 3rd Baron Willoughby of Parham and had issue.
