On 16th May 1825 Henry Gerard Sturt 1st Baron Alington was born to Henry Charles Sturt [aged 29] and Charlotte Penelope Brudenell.
In 1848 [his brother-in-law] Thomas Baring 1st Earl Northbrook [aged 21] and [his sister] Elizabeth Sturt Baroness Northbrook were married.
On 10th September 1853 Henry Gerard Sturt 1st Baron Alington [aged 28] and Augusta Bingham Baroness Alington [aged 21] were married. She the daughter of George Charles Bingham 3rd Earl Lucan [aged 53] and Anne Brudenell Countess Lucan [aged 44]. They were first cousins.
On 20th August 1859 [his son] Humphrey Napier Sturt 2nd Baron Alington was born to Henry Gerard Sturt 1st Baron Alington [aged 34] and [his wife] Augusta Bingham Baroness Alington [aged 27]. Coefficient of inbreeding 6.25%. He married 25th June 1883 Feodorowna Yorke Baroness Alington, daughter of Charles Philip "Champagne Charlie" Yorke 5th Earl of Hardwicke and Sophia Georgiana Robertina Wellesley Countess Hardwicke, and had issue.
Before 13th December 1860 [his brother-in-law] Charles George Bingham 4th Earl Lucan [aged 30] and Cecilia Catherine Gordon-Lennox Countess Lucan [aged 22] were married. She the daughter of Charles Gordon-Lennox 5th Duke Richmond and Caroline Paget Duchess Richmond [aged 64]. He the son of [his father-in-law] George Charles Bingham 3rd Earl Lucan [aged 60] and [his aunt] Anne Brudenell Countess Lucan [aged 51]. They were fourth cousin once removed. She a great x 4 granddaughter of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.
On 14th April 1866 [his father] Henry Charles Sturt [aged 70] died.
On 6th September 1866 Francis Baring 1st Baron Northbrook [aged 70] died. His son [his brother-in-law] Thomas [aged 40] succeeded 2nd Baron Northbrook, 4th Baronet Baring of Larkbeer in Devon. [his sister] Elizabeth Sturt Baroness Northbrook by marriage Baroness Northbrook.
In June 1867 [his sister] Elizabeth Sturt Baroness Northbrook died.
Chronicle of a Bourgeois of Valenciennes
Récits d’un bourgeois de Valenciennes aka The Chronicle of a Bourgeois of Valenciennes is a vivid 14th-century vernacular chronicle written by an anonymous urban chronicler from Valenciennes in the County of Hainaut. It survives in a manuscript that describes local and regional history from about 1253 to 1366, blending chronology, narrative episodes, and eyewitness-style accounts of political, military, and social events in medieval France, Flanders, and the Low Countries. The work begins with a chronological framework of events affecting Valenciennes and its region under rulers such as King Philip VI of France and the shifting allegiances of local nobility. It includes accounts of conflicts, sieges, diplomatic manoeuvres, and the impact of broader struggles like the Hundred Years’ War on urban life in Hainaut. Written from the perspective of a burgher (bourgeois) rather than a monastery or royal court, the chronicle offers a rare lay viewpoint on high politics and warfare, reflecting how merchants, townspeople, and civic institutions experienced the turbulence of the 13th and 14th centuries. In 1869 [his daughter] Mildred Cecilia Sturt Lady Montagu was born to Henry Gerard Sturt 1st Baron Alington [aged 43] and [his wife] Augusta Bingham Baroness Alington [aged 36]. Coefficient of inbreeding 6.25%. She married (1) 30th April 1892 Henry Arthur Cadogan, son of George Cadogan 5th Earl Cadogan and Beatrix Jane Craven Countess Cadogan, and had issue (2) 18th April 1910 her fifth cousin once removed Hedworth Lambton aka Meux, son of George Frederick D'Arcy Lambton 2nd Earl Durham and Beatrix Frances Hamilton Countess Durham (3) 4th December 1930 her sixth cousin Charles William Augustus Montagu, son of William Drogo Montagu 7th Duke Manchester and Louisa Vonalten Duchess Devonshire and Manchester.

He the son of George Cadogan 5th Earl Cadogan [aged 51] and Beatrix Jane Craven Countess Cadogan [aged 47].

Jean de Waurin was a French Chronicler, from the Artois region, who was born around 1400, and died around 1474. Waurin’s Chronicle of England, Volume 6, covering the period 1450 to 1471, from which we have selected and translated Chapters relating to the Wars of the Roses, provides a vivid, original, contemporary description of key events some of which he witnessed first-hand, some of which he was told by the key people involved with whom Waurin had a personal relationship.
