George Gordon 5th Duke Gordon 1770-1836

On 18th October 1767 [his father] Alexander Gordon 4th Duke Gordon [aged 24] and [his step-mother] Jane Maxwell Duchess Gordon [aged 19] were married. She by marriage Duchess Gordon. He the son of [his grandfather] Cosmo George Gordon 3rd Duke Gordon and [his grandmother] Catherine Gordon Duchess Gordon [aged 49].

On 2nd February 1770 George Gordon 5th Duke Gordon was born to Alexander Gordon 4th Duke Gordon [aged 26].

She the daughter of [his father] Alexander Gordon 4th Duke Gordon [aged 46] and [his step-mother] Jane Maxwell Duchess Gordon [aged 41]. They were sixth cousins. He a great x 2 grandson of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.

On 7th October 1793 [his brother-in-law] William Montagu 5th Duke Manchester [aged 21] and [his half-sister] Susan Gordon Duchess Manchester were married at Edinburgh. Susan Gordon Duchess Manchester by marriage Duchess Manchester. She the daughter of [his father] Alexander Gordon 4th Duke Gordon [aged 50] and [his step-mother] Jane Maxwell Duchess Gordon [aged 45]. He the son of George Montagu 4th Duke Manchester and Elizabeth Dashwood Duchess Manchester [aged 53].

On 17th April 1795 [his brother-in-law] Charles Cornwallis 2nd Marquess Cornwallis [aged 20] and [his half-sister] Louisa Gordon Marchioness Cornwallis [aged 18] were married. She the daughter of [his father] Alexander Gordon 4th Duke Gordon [aged 51] and [his step-mother] Jane Maxwell Duchess Gordon [aged 47]. He the son of Charles Cornwallis 1st Marquess Cornwallis [aged 56] and Jemima Tullekin Jones Countess Cornwallis.

On 23rd June 1803 [his brother-in-law] John Russell 6th Duke Bedford [aged 36] and [his half-sister] Georgiana Gordon Duchess Bedford [aged 21] were married. Georgiana Gordon Duchess Bedford by marriage Duchess Bedford. She the daughter of [his father] Alexander Gordon 4th Duke Gordon [aged 60] and [his step-mother] Jane Maxwell Duchess Gordon [aged 55]. On 5th October 1805 Charles Cornwallis 1st Marquess Cornwallis [aged 66] died at Gauspur, Ghazipur. His succeeded son [his brother-in-law] Charles Cornwallis 2nd Marquess Cornwallis [aged 30] succeeded 2nd Marquess Cornwallis, 3rd Earl Cornwallis, 7th Baron Cornwallis. [his half-sister] Louisa Gordon Marchioness Cornwallis [aged 28] by marriage Marchioness Cornwallis.

On 29th December 1806 Charles Lennox 3rd Duke Richmond [aged 71] died at Goodwood West Sussex. He was buried at Chichester Cathedral [Map]. His succeeded nephew [his brother-in-law] Charles [aged 42] succeeded 4th Duke Richmond, 4th Earl March, 4th Baron Settrington. [his half-sister] Charlotte Gordon Duchess Richmond [aged 38] by marriage Duchess Richmond.

On 11th December 1813 George Gordon 5th Duke Gordon [aged 43] and Elizabeth Brodie Duchess Gordon [aged 19] were married. She brought £100,000 to the marriage and inherited more then £100,000 when her father died. The difference in their ages was 24 years. He the son of Alexander Gordon 4th Duke Gordon [aged 70].

On 22nd June 1819 Mary Anastasia Grace Mordaunt 11th Baroness Mordaunt [aged 80] died. Her succeeded second cousin [his father] Alexander [aged 76] succeeded 12th Baron Mordaunt.

On 17th June 1827 [his father] Alexander Gordon 4th Duke Gordon [aged 83] died. His succeeded son George [aged 57] succeeded 5th Duke Gordon, 8th Marquess Huntly, 13th Earl Huntley, 13th Baron Mordaunt. [his wife] Elizabeth Brodie Duchess Gordon [aged 32] by marriage Duchess Gordon.

On 26th August 1828 [his half-sister] Susan Gordon Duchess Manchester died.

On 28th May 1836 George Gordon 5th Duke Gordon [aged 66] died without legitimate issue at Belgrave Square, Belgravia. Duke Gordon, Baron Mordaunt extinct. His succeeded fourth cousin once removed George Gordon 9th Marquess Huntly [aged 74] succeeded 9th Marquess Huntly, 14th Earl Huntley.
