Charles Lennox 4th Duke Richmond 1764-1819

On 25th December 1759 [his father] George Lennox [aged 22] and [his mother] Louisa Kerr were married. She the daughter of [his grandfather] William Henry Kerr 4th Marquess Lothian [aged 49] and [his grandmother] Caroline Darcy Marchioness Lothian. He the son of Charles Lennox 2nd Duke Richmond and Sarah Cadogan Duchess Richmond. They were fourth cousin once removed. He a great grandson of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland. She a great x 4 granddaughter of King James I of England and Ireland and VI of Scotland.

On 9th September 1764 Charles Lennox 4th Duke Richmond was born to George Lennox [aged 26] and Louisa Kerr. He a great x 2 grandson of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.

In April 1789 [his brother-in-law] Henry Bathurst 3rd Earl Bathurst [aged 26] and [his sister] Georgiana Lennox Countess Bathurst [aged 23] were married. He the son of Henry Bathurst 2nd Earl Bathurst [aged 74] and Tryphena Scawen Countess Bathurst Sussex [aged 58]. They were fifth cousin once removed. She a great x 2 granddaughter of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.

On 9th September 1789 Charles Lennox 4th Duke Richmond [aged 25] and Charlotte Gordon Duchess Richmond [aged 20] were married at Gordon Castle, Fochabers. She the daughter of Alexander Gordon 4th Duke Gordon [aged 46] and Jane Maxwell Duchess Gordon [aged 41]. They were sixth cousins. He a great x 2 grandson of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.

On 15th August 1790 [his daughter] Mary Lennox was born to Charles Lennox 4th Duke Richmond [aged 25] and [his wife] Charlotte Gordon Duchess Richmond [aged 21]. She a great x 3 granddaughter of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland. She married 11th March 1820 her half fourth cousin once removed Charles Augustus Fitzroy and had issue.

On 3rd August 1791 [his son] Charles Gordon-Lennox 5th Duke Richmond was born to Charles Lennox 4th Duke Richmond [aged 26] and [his wife] Charlotte Gordon Duchess Richmond [aged 22]. He a great x 3 grandson of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland. He married 10th April 1817 Caroline Paget Duchess Richmond, daughter of Henry William Paget 1st Marquess Anglesey and Caroline Elizabeth Villiers Duchess Argyll, and had issue.

On 3rd October 1793 [his son] John George Lennox was born to Charles Lennox 4th Duke Richmond [aged 29] and [his wife] Charlotte Gordon Duchess Richmond [aged 25]. He a great x 3 grandson of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.

On 7th October 1793 William Montagu 5th Duke Manchester [aged 21] and [his sister-in-law] Susan Gordon Duchess Manchester were married at Edinburgh. Susan Gordon Duchess Manchester by marriage Duchess Manchester. She the daughter of [his father-in-law] Alexander Gordon 4th Duke Gordon [aged 50] and [his mother-in-law] Jane Maxwell Duchess Gordon [aged 45]. He the son of George Montagu 4th Duke Manchester and Elizabeth Dashwood Duchess Manchester [aged 53].

Around 1794 [his daughter] Sarah Lennox was born to Charles Lennox 4th Duke Richmond [aged 29] and [his wife] Charlotte Gordon Duchess Richmond [aged 25]. She a great x 3 granddaughter of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.

On 6th August 1794 Henry Bathurst 2nd Earl Bathurst [aged 80] died at Oakley Grove Cirencester, Gloucestershire. His succeeded son [his brother-in-law] Henry [aged 32] succeeded 3rd Earl Bathurst of Bathurst in Sussex, 3rd Baron Bathurst. [his sister] Georgiana Lennox Countess Bathurst [aged 28] by marriage Countess Bathurst of Bathurst in Sussex.

On 17th April 1795 Charles Cornwallis 2nd Marquess Cornwallis [aged 20] and [his sister-in-law] Louisa Gordon Marchioness Cornwallis [aged 18] were married. She the daughter of [his father-in-law] Alexander Gordon 4th Duke Gordon [aged 51] and [his mother-in-law] Jane Maxwell Duchess Gordon [aged 47]. He the son of Charles Cornwallis 1st Marquess Cornwallis [aged 56] and Jemima Tullekin Jones Countess Cornwallis.

On 30th September 1795 [his daughter] Georgiana Lennox Baroness Ros of Helmsley was born to Charles Lennox 4th Duke Richmond [aged 31] and [his wife] Charlotte Gordon Duchess Richmond [aged 27]. She a great x 3 granddaughter of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland. She married 7th June 1824 her second cousin William Fitzgerald De Ros 22nd Baron Ros Helmsley, son of Henry Fitzgerald and Charlotte Boyle 20th Baroness Ros of Helmsley, and had issue.

On 6th September 1797 [his son] Henry Adam Lennox was born to Charles Lennox 4th Duke Richmond [aged 32] and [his wife] Charlotte Gordon Duchess Richmond [aged 28]. He a great x 3 grandson of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.

On 20th September 1799 [his son] William Lennox was born to Charles Lennox 4th Duke Richmond [aged 35] and [his wife] Charlotte Gordon Duchess Richmond [aged 31]. He a great x 3 grandson of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.

Around 1800 [his daughter] Jane Lennox was born to Charles Lennox 4th Duke Richmond [aged 35] and [his wife] Charlotte Gordon Duchess Richmond [aged 31]. She a great x 3 granddaughter of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland. She married 20th July 1822 Laurence Peel.

On 24th January 1801 [his son] Frederick Lennox was born to Charles Lennox 4th Duke Richmond [aged 36] and [his wife] Charlotte Gordon Duchess Richmond [aged 32]. He a great x 3 grandson of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.

On 11th June 1802 [his son] Sussex Lennox was born to Charles Lennox 4th Duke Richmond [aged 37] and [his wife] Charlotte Gordon Duchess Richmond [aged 33]. He a great x 3 grandson of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.

On 23rd June 1803 John Russell 6th Duke Bedford [aged 36] and [his sister-in-law] Georgiana Gordon Duchess Bedford [aged 21] were married. Georgiana Gordon Duchess Bedford by marriage Duchess Bedford. She the daughter of [his father-in-law] Alexander Gordon 4th Duke Gordon [aged 60] and [his mother-in-law] Jane Maxwell Duchess Gordon [aged 55]. They were sixth cousins. He a great x 2 grandson of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.

On 2nd October 1803 [his daughter] Louisa Maddelena Lennox was born to Charles Lennox 4th Duke Richmond [aged 39] and [his wife] Charlotte Gordon Duchess Richmond [aged 35]. She a great x 3 granddaughter of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.

Around 1804 [his daughter] Charlotte Lennox was born to Charles Lennox 4th Duke Richmond [aged 39] and [his wife] Charlotte Gordon Duchess Richmond [aged 35]. She a great x 3 granddaughter of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland. She married 1823 her third cousin Admiral Maurice Berkeley 1st Baron FitzHardinge, son of Frederick Augustus Berkeley 5th Earl Berkeley and Mary Cole, and had issue.

On 25th March 1805 [his father] George Lennox [aged 67] died.

On 5th October 1805 Charles Cornwallis 1st Marquess Cornwallis [aged 66] died at Gauspur, Ghazipur. His succeeded son Charles Cornwallis 2nd Marquess Cornwallis [aged 30] succeeded 2nd Marquess Cornwallis, 3rd Earl Cornwallis, 7th Baron Cornwallis. [his sister-in-law] Louisa Gordon Marchioness Cornwallis [aged 28] by marriage Marchioness Cornwallis.

On 2nd October 1806 [his son] Arthur Lennox was born to Charles Lennox 4th Duke Richmond [aged 42] and [his wife] Charlotte Gordon Duchess Richmond [aged 38]. He a great x 3 grandson of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland.

On 29th December 1806 [his uncle] Charles Lennox 3rd Duke Richmond [aged 71] died at Goodwood West Sussex. He was buried at Chichester Cathedral [Map]. His succeeded nephew Charles [aged 42] succeeded 4th Duke Richmond, 4th Earl March, 4th Baron Settrington. [his wife] Charlotte Gordon Duchess Richmond [aged 38] by marriage Duchess Richmond.

On 21st June 1809 [his daughter] Sophia Georgiana Lennox was born to Charles Lennox 4th Duke Richmond [aged 44] and [his wife] Charlotte Gordon Duchess Richmond [aged 40]. She a great x 3 granddaughter of King Charles II of England Scotland and Ireland. She married 8th August 1838 Thomas Cecil, son of Henry Cecil 1st Marquess Exeter and Sarah Hoggins Countess Exeter.

In 1812 [his son] Henry Adam Lennox [aged 14] drowned.

In 1812 Charles Lennox 4th Duke Richmond [aged 47] was appointed 636th Knight of the Garter by King George IV of Great Britain and Ireland [aged 49] during the Regency.

On 11th December 1813 [his brother-in-law] George Gordon 5th Duke Gordon [aged 43] and Elizabeth Brodie Duchess Gordon [aged 19] were married. She brought £100,000 to the marriage and inherited more then £100,000 when her father died. The difference in their ages was 24 years. He the son of [his father-in-law] Alexander Gordon 4th Duke Gordon [aged 70].

On 10th April 1817 Charles Gordon-Lennox 5th Duke Richmond [aged 25] and Caroline Paget Duchess Richmond [aged 20] were married. She the daughter of Henry William Paget 1st Marquess Anglesey [aged 48] and Caroline Elizabeth Villiers Duchess Argyll [aged 42]. He the son of Charles Lennox 4th Duke Richmond [aged 52] and Charlotte Gordon Duchess Richmond [aged 48].

In 1818 [his future son-in-law] Charles Augustus Fitzroy [aged 21] and Charles Lennox 4th Duke Richmond [aged 53] (whose daughter he subsequently married two years later) travelled to Lower Canada.

On 28th August 1819 Charles Lennox 4th Duke Richmond [aged 54] died. His succeeded son Charles Gordon-Lennox 5th Duke Richmond [aged 28] succeeded 5th Duke Richmond, 5th Earl March, 5th Baron Settrington. Caroline Paget Duchess Richmond [aged 23] by marriage Duchess Richmond.

On 5th May 1842 [his former wife] Charlotte Gordon Duchess Richmond [aged 73] died.
