He retained those he had received before: His brother Edmund (age 16) succeeded 4th Earl Kent, 3rd Baron Holand, 8th Baron Wake of Liddell. He was buried, or re-buried, at his foundation Mount Grace Priory, North Yorkshire [Map].

Marriage of Edmund Holland Earl of Kent and Lucia Visconti

On 24th January 1407 Edmund Holland 4th Earl Kent (age 23) and Lucia Visconti Countess Kent (age 27) were married at Southwark Cathedral [Map]. She by marriage Countess Kent. He was killed eighteen month's later at the Battle of Île de Bréhat. He the son of Thomas Holland 2nd Earl Kent and Alice Fitzalan Countess Kent (age 57).

Pakington's Chronicle [-1390]. [24th January 1407] In the VIII Yere of King Henry Dame Luce [[his wife] Lucia Visconti Countess Kent (age 27)], the Dukes of Milaine Syster, cam to London, and there was weddid to Edmunde Holand (age 23) Erle of Kent in the Priory of S. Mary Overeys [Map], and the Fest was kept in the Bishop of Winchester's Place.

Battle of Île de Bréhat

On 15th September 1408 Edmund Holland 4th Earl Kent (age 24) was killed at Île de Bréhat. He was buried in Bourne Abbey, Lincolnshire [Map]. Earl Kent extinct. Baron Holand, Baron Wake of Liddell abeyant. See Walsingham.

The Chronicle of Walter of Guisborough, a canon regular of the Augustinian Guisborough Priory, Yorkshire, formerly known as The Chronicle of Walter of Hemingburgh, describes the period from 1066 to 1346. Before 1274 the Chronicle is based on other works. Thereafter, the Chronicle is original, and a remarkable source for the events of the time. This book provides a translation of the Chronicle from that date. The Latin source for our translation is the 1849 work edited by Hans Claude Hamilton. Hamilton, in his preface, says: "In the present work we behold perhaps one of the finest samples of our early chronicles, both as regards the value of the events recorded, and the correctness with which they are detailed; Nor will the pleasing style of composition be lightly passed over by those capable of seeing reflected from it the tokens of a vigorous and cultivated mind, and a favourable specimen of the learning and taste of the age in which it was framed." Thomas Walsingham [~1422]. [15th September 1408] Lord Thomas (age 24), Earl of Kent, while besieging the castle of Briaut in Brittany, was struck in the head by a bolt from a crossbow. Nevertheless, he captured the castle and completely destroyed it; but not long afterwards, when his brain had become putrid, he met his death.

Dominus Thomas Comes Canciæ, dum obsidet castrum de Briaut in Britannia, spiculo balistæ vulneratus in capite, cepit tamen castrum et destruxit funditus; nec multo post, putrefacto cerebro, mortem incurrit.

On 14th April 1424 [his former wife] Lucia Visconti Countess Kent (age 44) died.
