Frances Cecil Countess Isle Thanet 1581-1653

On 28th February 1581 Frances Cecil Countess Isle Thanet was born to Thomas Cecil 1st Earl Exeter [aged 38] and Dorothy Neville Countess Exeter [aged 33].

On 28th February 1587 [her brother-in-law] William Paulet 4th Marquess Winchester [aged 28] and [her sister] Lucy Cecil Marchioness Winchester were married at St Martin in the Fields Church [Map]. She the daughter of [her father] Thomas Cecil 1st Earl Exeter [aged 44] and [her mother] Dorothy Neville Countess Exeter [aged 39]. He the son of William Paulet 3rd Marquess Winchester [aged 55] and Agnes Howard Marchioness Winchester [aged 52]. They were half fourth cousins.

In January 1589 [her brother] William Cecil 2nd Earl Exeter [aged 23] and [her sister-in-law] Elizabeth Manners 15th Baroness Ros of Helmsley [aged 14] were married at Newark Castle, Nottinghamshire [Map]. She the daughter of Edward Manners 3rd Earl of Rutland and Isabel Holcroft Countess Rutland [aged 39]. He the son of [her father] Thomas Cecil 1st Earl Exeter [aged 46] and [her mother] Dorothy Neville Countess Exeter [aged 41]. They were fifth cousins.

After 1591 [her brother] William Cecil 2nd Earl Exeter [aged 25] and [her sister-in-law] Elizabeth Drury Countess Exeter [aged 12] were married. He the son of [her father] Thomas Cecil 1st Earl Exeter [aged 48] and [her mother] Dorothy Neville Countess Exeter [aged 43]. They were third cousin once removed.

On 24th November 1598 William Paulet 3rd Marquess Winchester [aged 66] died. His son [her brother-in-law] William [aged 39] succeeded 4th Marquess Winchester, 4th Earl Wiltshire, 4th Baron St John. [her sister] Lucy Cecil Marchioness Winchester by marriage Marchioness Winchester.

In 1601 [her brother] Edward Cecil 1st Viscount Wimbledon [aged 28] and [her sister-in-law] Theodosia Noel [aged 16] were married. He the son of [her father] Thomas Cecil 1st Earl Exeter [aged 58] and [her mother] Dorothy Neville Countess Exeter [aged 53].

In 1607 [her daughter] Mary Tufton was born to [her husband] Nicholas Tufton 1st Earl of Thanet [aged 28] and Frances Cecil Countess Isle Thanet [aged 25]. She married in or before 1625 her half fifth cousin once removed Edward Bishopp 2nd Baronet, son of Thomas Bishopp 1st Baronet and Jane Weston, and had issue.

After 26th October 1608 Francis Manners 6th Earl of Rutland [aged 30] and [her sister-in-law] Cecily Tufton Countess Rutland were married. He the son of John Manners 4th Earl of Rutland and Elizabeth Charlton Countess Rutland.

On 15th December 1608 [her son] John Tufton 2nd Earl of Thanet was born to [her husband] Nicholas Tufton 1st Earl of Thanet [aged 30] and Frances Cecil Countess Isle Thanet [aged 27]. He married 21st April 1629 his fifth cousin once removed Margaret Sackville Countess Isle Thanet, daughter of Richard Sackville 3rd Earl Dorset and Anne Clifford Countess Dorset and Pembroke, and had issue.

In 1609 [her mother] Dorothy Neville Countess Exeter [aged 61] died.

In 1610 [her father] Thomas Cecil 1st Earl Exeter [aged 67] and [her step-mother] Frances Brydges Countess Exeter [aged 30] were married. She by marriage Countess Exeter. The difference in their ages was 37 years.

On 2nd April 1624 [her father-in-law] John Tufton 1st Baronet [aged 80] died. His son [her husband] Nicholas [aged 46] succeeded 2nd Baronet Tufton of Hothfield. Frances Cecil Countess Isle Thanet [aged 43] by marriage Lady Tufton of Hothfield.

On 21st April 1629 John Tufton 2nd Earl of Thanet [aged 20] and Margaret Sackville Countess Isle Thanet [aged 14] were married. She the daughter of Richard Sackville 3rd Earl Dorset and Anne Clifford Countess Dorset and Pembroke [aged 39]. On 6th July 1640 [her brother] William Cecil 2nd Earl Exeter [aged 74] died. His nephew David [aged 40] succeeded 3rd Earl Exeter, 4th Baron Burghley. Elizabeth Egerton Countess Exeter by marriage Countess Exeter.

On 12th June 1653 Frances Cecil Countess Isle Thanet [aged 72] died.

[her daughter] Elizabeth Tufton was born to Nicholas Tufton 1st Earl of Thanet and Frances Cecil Countess Isle Thanet. She married 26th November 1619 Edward Dering 1st Baronet.
